Introduction of the Sector

The manufacturing industry has emerged as one of the fastest-growing sectors in India. The Government of India launched the 'Make in India' initiative to position India as a global manufacturing hub and enhance the country's visibility on the world stage. India has the capacity to export goods worth US$ 1 trillion (INR 83 lakh Crore) by 2030 and is on the road to becoming a major global manufacturing hub. India is gradually progressing on the road to Industry 4.0 through the Government of Indiaโ€™s initiatives like the National Manufacturing Policy which aims to increase the share of manufacturing in GDP to 25 percent by 2025.

Programme Introduction

The Bachelor in Mechatronics Technology at TISS SSE is a unique blend of mechanical and electronic studies, focusing on integrating devices like sensors, actuators, and computers. Nowadays, many products, both for consumers and businesses, combine both mechanical and electronic parts which are defined as mechatronic products. The programme teaches students about these systems and devices, which are becoming increasingly important in various industries. Giving hands-on skills in mechanical and electronic integration, problem-solving, and project management. In Bachelors of Mechatronics Technology programme, students not only gain a deep understanding of mechatronic principles but also develop a diverse skill set essential for success in this field.

Career Prospects / Job Role

  • The profession of mechatronics includes technicians and engineers. They design and maintain automated equipment. Technicians and Engineers working in Laboratories, Offices or on- site Manufacturing Plants.
